Government Services
The government should treat all Americans equally and fairly and never engage in discrimination. Yet we are seeing efforts across the country to allow government employees to withhold services to people on the basis of religion.
In recent years, states have considered or enacted laws that allow government clerks to refuse to provide marriage licenses to same-sex couples or allow government-funded child placement agencies to refuse to place children with an LGBTQ parent. In addition, religious organizations are being allowed to take taxpayer funds to provide services to the public, and then use those dollars to discriminate on the basis of religion when hiring employees who will provide these services.
