The Department of Education announced it will create a negotiated rulemaking committee in order to revise regulations under Title IV of the Higher Education Act. On the list of the committee’s considerations are plans to roll back safeguards against using taxpayer funds to support religious activities in federal student aid programs. They also intend to create special exemptions for religious colleges to skirt accreditation requirements, including those that bar colleges from discriminating against their students and faculty.
