Mississippi's "Religious Liberty" Bill Passes House, But Is Delayed On Its Way To The Governor

Today, Mississippi's House worked to fast-track HB 1523 to Governor Phil Bryant's desk as outside opposition to the one of the most dangerous "religious liberty" bills in the country begins to build. 

In an effort to delay its progress, Mississippi Democrats have sought a motion to reconsider the bill.

From Buzzfeed: 

The [House'] 69-44 vote was expected to send the bill, which already passed in the Senate, to the governor. However, later in the day, Democrats used a procedure to delay the bill by requiring another vote on Monday — seeking a motion to reconsider, largely considered a formality that buys time — before it can go to the governor’s desk.
