Disapproves DC Council's Human Rights Act Amendment of 2014, Section 3(a)
Under DC Home Rule, Congress has final authority over local legislation adopted by the District of Columbia. Once the DC City Council passes legislation, it must go through a 30-day congressional review period, in which Congress can pass a “resolution of disapproval” to overturn that DC bill. In 2015, both the House and Senate introduced resolutions to disapprove DC's Human Rights Amendment Act of 2014 (HRAA). The HRAA simply requires religiously affiliated schools in DC to provide equal access to school facilities and services for LGBT student clubs as it would for all other student groups.
