Disapproves DC Council's Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Amendment Act of 2014
Under DC Home Rule, Congress has final authority over local legislation adopted by the District of Columbia. Once the DC City Council passes legislation, it must go through a 30-day congressional review period, in which Congress can pass a “resolution of disapproval” to overturn that DC bill. In 2015, both the House and Senate introduced resolutions to disapprove DC’s Reproductive Health Non-Discrimination Amendment Act of 2014 (RHNDAA). RHNDAA protects DC employees by ensuring that they can make their personal reproductive health care decisions without fear of losing their jobs.
