In Rusk County, Texas, County Clerk Joyce Lewis-Kugle has stepped down from her post in protest over the the Supreme Court marriage equality ruling.
From Reuters:
"'Before taking office, I was required to take an oath to uphold the laws of this State and the United States. Due to the recent decision by the Supreme Court, the laws I swore to have now changed,' [Lewis-Kugle] said in the letter issued to the county judge and posted on the Internet by a local TV broadcaster."
Though we don't support her opinions, it's obvious that she has a clear understanding of her position within the county government and the duties she swore an oath to carry out. There's a county clerk in Kentucky who could take a few lessons from this woman.
